Cameron Newton - The Long Road To Auburn

Sure Cameron Newton wanted to play for the Florida Gators, but he also wanted to start at QB. Buried behind Tebow on the Florida depth chart, he decided starting was more important than being a Gator.

Taking his game to Blinn community college in Texas, then he lead them to a championship. He wanted back in the SEC, it was between Auburn, Arizona, Mississippi State and Oklahoma. Finding a starting role on either the Tigers, or the Bulldogs wasn’t going to be an issue. He went with Auburn because he wants to win, and seeing former Auburn QB Chris Todd come from the same situation, and having success in an offense that fits his athletic abilities, the decision was simple. Join the Tigers!

Cam Newton spent the spring with Gus Malzahn’s no huddle offense. Shortly after Gene Chizik made him the starter. Newton said in choosing Auburn he felt it gave him the best shot at a championship.
